You are the RN in an aged care facility. Arthur Wong, aged 83, nearly fell while reaching the bathroom overnight. He has not fallen or sustained injury. Assess modifiable falls risks and agree on a practical prevention plan. Complete the supplied practice record. You and the patient are in the room; assistance can be called. You have eight minutes; describe and select physical actions in this online exercise.
What this station tests
- Arthur’s near miss needs postural BP and medicine review as well as environmental changes.
- Temazepam and tamsulosin require prescriber review, not independent cessation.
- Glasses and walker placement matter when urgency prompts a night-time transfer.
- Agree toileting help with Arthur and report the near miss.
