The task

You are the RN in a general practice clinic. Tom Anderson, aged 51, has diabetes treated with insulin and becomes sweaty while waiting. He is alert and can swallow safely. Assess and respond to the low glucose, then record actual treatment and the planned reassessment. Complete the supplied practice record. You and the patient are in the room; assistance can be called. You have eight minutes; describe and select physical actions in this online exercise.

What this station tests

  • Treat Tom’s symptomatic low glucose before completing paperwork.
  • Three labelled five-gram tablets provide fifteen grams of fast carbohydrate.
  • Time the recheck fifteen minutes after actual treatment and name its owner.
  • Never fabricate a repeat result that falls beyond the station; stop oral care if swallow worsens.
