Signs of life during community resuscitation
RN OSCE practice station
Basic life support · 2 min to read · 8 min to perform
A written station. Free to try, no sign-up.
The task
You are the RN in a community nursing service. Luis Santos, aged 57, has collapsed at a community health centre. Another RN is nearby and 000 can be called. Recognise the emergency, demonstrate DRSABCD and hand over to arriving help. Complete the supplied practice record. Speak to the patient and describe each assessment as you perform it. A second RN is available. You have eight minutes; describe and select physical actions in this online exercise.
What this station tests
- Movement prompts a brief breathing reassessment; normal breathing determines whether compressions stop.
- Leave Luis’s AED pads attached during recovery monitoring.
- Restart CPR immediately if normal breathing is lost again.
- Handover separates initial arrest findings from observed recovery and actual CPR and shock times.
