How the resit price works

A fail email lists the stations you failed, and you retake only those. If you retake 7 or fewer, you pay £397. Retake 8 or more and you pay the full £794. A resit at the same centre must be at least 10 days after the last sitting. The full rules are on the NMC OSCE results and resit page.

You get up to three sittings per application. If all three fail, the application closes and you wait at least six months before you start again and retake all 10 stations.

Adding up the realistic cost

A first sitting costs £794. If you fail at most 7 stations, a resit adds £397, so two sittings come to £1,191. If you have 8 or more stations to retake, the resit adds £794 instead, so two sittings come to £1,588. These sums use only the NMC fees. Travel, accommodation and time off work are extra, and they depend on which of the three NMC OSCE centres you use.
