If your centre has closed
The NMC says candidates who sat at a closed centre may transfer a resit by emailing one of the other centres, and that centre then becomes theirs for any later resit. Otherwise, remember that resits happen at the same centre as your first attempt, so choose your first centre with care.
Choosing between centres
Pass rates differ by centre. In January to March 2026 the first-attempt rate was 41% at Northampton, 44% at Leeds and 49% at Ulster, with 1,545, 410 and 271 sittings respectively (NMC pass rates 2026). Different volumes and candidate mixes make centre comparisons rough, so do not read too much into them. Compare travel, dates and cost as well. Full tables are on the pass rates page.
The fee is the same for all centres: £794, with resit rules on the cost page.
Before you travel
Bring a valid passport. A photo is taken on the day. You can ask the centre for reasonable adjustments, such as extra time, after booking. Testing takes about 3 hours, and stations are recorded. Practise the format at home with the free NMC OSCE mock test and read the results and resit rules so you know what follows.
