Asha Nair is on the postnatal ward, three days after birth. She says she feels unwell. Assess and record her current observations and organise further care. RN Casey and the ward clinician can be contacted.
What this station tests
- Maternal sepsis can present within days of birth with fever, tachycardia and low urine even when visible bleeding is light.
- Visible blood loss alone cannot explain or exclude circulatory compromise.
- Emergency escalation proceeds while the focused postnatal history is obtained.
