Pass rates, May 2024 to May 2026

These are Part II figures published by PEBC. Each row is a group of candidates.

GroupCandidatesPass rate
Canadian graduates2,47492.5%
Canadian repeaters16782.6%
International first-time2,26756.6%
International repeaters87469.8%

The groups add up to 5,782 in about two years, roughly 2,900 a year by our arithmetic.

What the gap means

About 43% of international first-time candidates did not pass. International repeat candidates passed at 69.8%.

The figures do not say why candidates fail, so do not read a single cause into them.

There is no fixed pass rate

The exam is criterion-referenced. PEBC does not set a quota of passes. Results are pass or fail only, and arrive within 6 weeks. A feedback report follows about 8 weeks later if you fail.

You can sit each part up to 4 times, and the fourth attempt needs remediation first. Read the new pathway from 2027 if you trained outside Canada.

Use the numbers well

A group rate is not your own chance. Spend your time on the stations: practise each task type, with timing. You can practise with an AI patient and try one station free with no sign-up, and the OSCE explainer covers how stations work. Back to the PEBC OSCE overview.
