The task

Ben Carter, 59, has type 2 diabetes and is due his morning long-acting insulin during a community visit. His current order and insulin pen are available. Prepare to give his insulin and act on your findings. Dr Taylor Singh is reachable by phone. Document in the blue folder.

What this station tests

  • Read the formulation and concentration on the actual insulin device.
  • Do not withdraw insulin from a pen or improvise a conversion for an unprescribed product.
  • A withheld basal dose still requires prompt review and monitoring arrangements.
