AMC clinical exam preparation works best when you study the AMC's public topic list and practise timed 10-minute stations out loud. Courses exist, and the prices we saw on 6 November 2026 are below so you can compare.

The AMC publishes a document called Australian Medicine in Context. It lists 105 patient presentations and 56 professional practice topics. Topics include consent, handover and referral, breaking bad news, using interpreters, open disclosure, refusal of treatment and privacy.
Tick off each presentation and topic, and practise each one aloud for eight minutes. The AMC also publishes examination preparation resources, including its assessment domains.
A simple weekly pattern
- Pick two presentations from the blueprint.
- Do each as a timed station: read for 2 minutes, then speak for 8.
- Check yourself against the domains: history, examination, investigations, diagnosis, management and counselling.
- Repeat the weakest domain the next day.
Practise some stations as telephone consultations, because the current specification includes them.

How long should I prepare for the AMC clinical exam?
The AMC does not set a preparation time. Plan around covering the published list of presentations and topics, with regular timed practice.
Do I need a preparation course for the AMC clinical exam?
No course is required. Some candidates use one for structure and mock exams. Compare prices and content first.
