Renee Parker has been assessed by the GP for reduced oral intake. A signed short intravenous fluid order and pump are available. Check suitability and the order, calculate the rate and demonstrate starting the infusion with the second RN. Complete the fluid record. The patient answers personal questions; the examiner supplies requested examination findings. Dr Taylor Singh is reachable by phone. RN Alex Morgan is available.
What this station tests
- A small bag still needs a complete order, rate calculation and monitoring plan.
- Trace the line and verify the actual pump setting before starting.
- Record delivered volume as it occurs rather than copying the prescribed bag volume into intake.
