OSCE NZ price and fee

The OSCE NZ price is NZ$3,000, and a resit costs another NZ$3,000. The Nursing Council also charges NZ$500 for the Orientation and Preparation Course, which is bundled into your first OSCE booking. All figures below come from the Council fees page, which we read on 2026-11-06. Back to the overview.

Not every overseas nurse must sit the OSCE, so you may not pay all of these. The Council also lists outside costs: document verification by TruMerit (US$380) and an international criminal history check (A$155 per country).

What a first sitting costs

The mandatory OSCE and the Orientation and Preparation Course add up to about NZ$3,500 for a first sitting. Each resit is NZ$3,000. The handbook highly recommends repeating the course before a resit, but it is not required, and you pay for it.

You have three attempts in total. Three attempts at the OSCE alone would be NZ$9,000 in fees, before travel to Christchurch.

No-shows and cost control

The handbook says failing to attend counts as a failed attempt, and the fee may be forfeited. Fees for failed attempts are not refunded, so readiness matters more than speed.

The Council's information video is free to watch. Practice costs far less than a resit, and you can try one station free with no sign-up. See our pricing and preparation.
