RCSI OSCE pass rate

The RCSI OSCE pass rate is about 60 percent at the first attempt and about 70 percent at the second, according to RCSI. Those are RCSI's own stated figures, seen on its practical test page on 2026-11-06. This page explains how to read them. For the rules behind them, see the RCSI OSCE overview.

What the figures say

RCSI gives two round numbers and no breakdown. We found no per-year numbers, no split by country and no count of candidates for the practical part alone, so we do not give any.

Read the figures as a rough guide. About four in ten candidates do not pass at the first attempt, and about three in ten do not pass at the second.

Why the pass rule is strict

The practical needs a competent mark in every competency at every station. The assessor marks each competency as competent or incompetent. One missed competency means the station is not passed.

After a first-attempt fail, you resit only the failed stations. You get two attempts at each part in total.
